The purpose of this Landscape Preservation Maintenance Plan is to supplement the CLR completed in 2009, providing detailed guidance for the on-going care and stewardship of the landscape at Hearst Castle in a manner consistent with the philosophical framework outlined in the 2009 CLR as well as with The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The plan defines management goals and maintenance objectives and prescribes appropriate landscape maintenance practices, techniques, strategies, and schedules to support field operations that preserve the landscape character of the property.
