Novel assessments of health and biodiversity in marine habitats: coral reef soundscape measurements in the US Virgin Islands National Park

Apprill A, Mooney T, Gridhar Y. Novel assessments of health and biodiversity in marine habitats: coral reef soundscape measurements in the US Virgin Islands National Park. Research Permit and Reporting System

The goal is to continue this project using similar sampling methods across additional sites and address how these acoustic cues may be used by larval reef fish and invertebrates to find coral reefs and replenish reef fish populations. Similar to prior years, our current objectives include both short (hrs to a few days) and long-term (multi-year) measurements to evaluate the spatial and temporal variability in the local soundscape of coral reef habitats across multiple sites. Report attached.
