Saguaros at Ironwood Forest National Monument, are being used as shooting targets thus damaging and destroying them. The Bureau of Land Management proposed a ban on recreational shooting in the monument, which was opposed by the National Rifle Association. Rep. Jeff Flake (AZ) sponsored a congressional bill to make it BLM policy "to keep national monument lands open to access and use for recreational shooting."
