The Pinnacles National Park California Condor Reestablishment - Annual Report 2013 offers a detailed overview of the park's efforts in the conservation and recovery of the condor population. The Condor Reestablishment Program at Pinnacles National Park has several objectives, with the goal of species recovery in the wild. Project objectives include: 1) monitoring central California condor foraging behavior, nesting and reproduction, and population trend; 2) detecting and recovering mortalities so cause of death can be determined; 3) managing threats to condors through treatment; 4) increasing public awareness of threats to condor recovery; and 5) conducting cooperative research to aid condor recovery. During 2013, the Pinnacles condor program managed a flock of 34 condors, tracking the birds over a range of approximately 90 miles north to south and 60 miles east to west. In 2013, there were five nesting attempts that involved Pinnacles released birds, none of which were successful. In 2013, there were seven mortalities of Pinnacles managed condors and three captive-reared juveniles were released.
