This Historic Structure Report (HSR) documents the history, context, and current condition of Andersonville National Historic Site's Cemetery Lodge and supplies recommendations for the treatment and use of the building. The report study area includes the Cemetery Lodge, adjacent walkway, ramp, patio, stair set, and foundation plantings, located just inside the historic brick cemetery wall at the central-west portion of Andersonville National Cemetery in Georgia. The NPS will use this report to inform and guide stewardship of these historic resources. Part I (Developmental History) provides a brief review of the historical development of Andersonville National Cemetery, known historical information about the construction and use of the building, and the transfer of the property to the NPS. A physical description provides a systemic accounting of the structure’s features and materials, along with a summary assessment of their current condition. Part II (Treatment and Use) presents a proposed treatment for the historic structure. It emphasizes preservation of existing historic material while conforming to applicable laws, regulations, planning, and functional requirements.
