San Francisco Bay Area Network Raptor Monitoring Database
San Francisco Bay Area Network. 2025. San Francisco Bay Area Network Raptor Monitoring Database. National Park Service
This database contains occupancy and fecundity data for prairie falcons (Falco mexicanus) in Pinnacles National Park collected during the SFAN Prairie Falcon Monitoring Program. Prior to 2000, only historic territories established in the vicinity of climbing areas (i.e "core" areas) were consistently surveyed, while data from 2000-2024 were consistently collected at all historic territories (including "non-core" areas). Field surveys were typically conducted from January – mid-July to collect observations of territorial behaviors and nesting stage. Ancillary data on golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetus) and peregrine falcons (Falco peregrinus), as well as other raptor species are also included in this dataset. The Falcon Monitoring Protocol may be found at https://irma.nps.gov/DataStore/Reference/Profile/2180728. Standard Operating Procedures may be found at https://irma.nps.gov/DataStore/Reference/Profile/2180731.
