Climbing Quads at Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park. 2018. Climbing Quads at Joshua Tree National Park. National Park Service

This feature layer contains detailed polygon and point data that represent various rock locations, rock outcrops and quads based on the USGS quad index for Joshua Tree National Park. The rock locations are point data that denote specific rock formations and climbing areas throughout the park. The rock outcrops polygon data highlight the larger rock outcrops, which are significant both for climbing and for understanding the geological landscape of the park. The USGS Quad Index is obtained from the USGS GIS datastore and provides a structured, well known framework for identifying and locating these geologic features accurately. The data was created in 2018 and has been maintained by Joshua Tree National Park GIS personnel.
