Montezuma Castle National Monument Expansion Cultural Resources Inventory, Camp Verde, Yavapai County, Arizona
Whiting JC. 2013. Montezuma Castle National Monument Expansion Cultural Resources Inventory, Camp Verde, Yavapai County, Arizona. EnviroSystems Management, Inc.
On July 1-3 and 11, 2013, EnviroSystems Management, Inc. (EnviroSystems) conducted a cultural resources inventory of a single parcel totaling 157 acres within Montezuma Castle National Monument, Yavapai County, Arizona. The parcel was recently acquired, therefore, the NPS deemed the inventory necessary to meet National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 110 requirements for cultural resources identification, assessment, and evaluation and Section 106 requirements in advance of future projects. On behalf of the NPS, the work was conducted to provide a 100% cultural resources inventory of the specified project area, collect information on the distribution and character of cultural resources in the area, and to make site specific recommendations regarding National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility. The inventory resulted in the identification and documentation of seven new sites (MOCA2013A-01 through MOCA2013A-07) and 10 isolated occurrences (IOs) of cultural material. The entire project area was inventoried at a theoretical 100% level of intensity.
