A National Historic Landmark theme study to evaluate surviving World War II warships (as of 1985) that saw action in the Pacific against Japan (1941-1945). The Theme Study provided a basis for recommending certain warships that saw action in the Pacific during WWII for designation as National Historic Landmarks. The theme study was also intended to compliment the World War II in the Pacific National Historic Landmark Theme Study by Erwin N. Thompson (1984). The Warships Associated with World War II in the Pacific theme study was prepared in partial fulfillment of the requirements of Public Law 95-348, August 18, 1978.
