As part of an Interagency Agreement, the National Park Service (NPS) Sierra Nevada Network (SIEN) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) cooperated in the acquisition, organization, management, and synthesis of water-quality data available in and near the SIEN Parks. As part of this agreement, the USGS incorporated water-quality data from the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) STOrage and RETrieval (STORET) databases (Legacy and Modernized STORET), the USGS National Water Information System (NWIS) database, and selected NPS and research databases into the SIEN water-quality database. The resulting product is a relational database with historical water-quality data that can be used for the purpose of assessing the park’s current and past water-quality conditions.
