Streams Ecological Integrity (SEI) Physical Habitat Data for Rocky Mountain Network (ROMN) 2007-2024 – Processing Script

Kompella MD . 2026. Streams Ecological Integrity (SEI) Physical Habitat Data for Rocky Mountain Network (ROMN) 2007-2024 – Processing Script. National Park Service. https://doi.org/10.57830/2311519

This script pulls raw data from the Rocky Mountain Network (ROMN)'s SQL database and access database to create the data tables for ROMN's Streams Ecological Integrity (SEI) Physical Habitat data package. The data package is part of ROMN's SEI Physical Habitat monitoring at Glacier National Park, Grant-Kohrs Ranch Historical Site, Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument and Rocky Mountain National Park from 2007-2024. The overall goals for long-term ecological monitoring of ROMN streams focus on documenting the status and trend in stream condition, understanding the causes of change in stream condition, and assisting in the application of these data to park management. Physical Habitat assessment involves collecting detailed information on channel dimensions, channel gradient, channel substrate size and type, habitat complexity and cover, riparian vegetation cover and structure, and anthropogenic alterations. Aquatic plants, riparian vegetation, and large woody debris are also included as habitat features because of their role in modifying habitat structure and light inputs, even though they are actually biological measures. Habitat data is collected at all full sampling events for all stream types.
