NCCN Program Review
Network Program Manager. 2024-2025. NCCN Program Review. National Park Service
Materials and reports resulting from the 2024 North Coast and Cascades Network (NCCN) Program Review. The Program Review was conducted by the National Park Service Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) Program. With more than two decades of program experience, the Inventory & Monitoring Division (IMD) is poised to strategically evaluate and adjust its programmatic scope, science portfolio, and operational design, with sustainability and relevance as key drivers. Together with IMDs Core Expectations guidance, program reviews offer an opportunity to drive for consistent outcomes at network and division levels in delivering science to park managers. The goals of the NCCN Program Review were: 1) to identify an essential, achievable portfolio of vital signs to achieve Core Expectations for Vital Signs Monitoring that accommodates dedicated time for more agile, direct engagement in scientific support to parks and partners; 2) to articulate a sustainable network business model capable of supporting a cohesive science portfolio; and 3) to strengthen shared understanding of program vision and strategies among all participants who implement network I&M programs and projects. Materials used for the workshop include protocol-specific status summaries (implementation and impact needs and opportunities), dataset and report product summaries, presentations made to a review panel, and a business review summary. Final products were a program review report and a workshop report. The program review report contains recommendations made by a review panel that was assembled by IMD. The workshop report is a compilation of notes recorded by NCCN staff workgroups documenting discussions regarding the future of NCCN.
