Brief article published in 1909 referring to a paper describing a possible change of the scientific name of the saguaro from cereus giganteus to Carnegia gigantea. References descriptions of the saguaro from articles/reports published in 1883, 1890. Describes range of saguaros being in Southern Arizona and South-eastern California, Northern and Central Sonora. Gives general physical description of saguaro and that the newly proposed name change is in dedication to Andrew Carnegie, founder of the Carnegie Institution which began a Tucson Laboratory for study of the saguaros.
