Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore FFI Fire Effects Monitoring Data
Weyenberg S and Anderson ES. 2025. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore FFI Fire Effects Monitoring Data. National Park Service
Fire effects monitoring data collected at Indiana Dune National Park (INDU) in Porter, IN. The data were collected during summer field seasons by the fire effects monitoring crews from 1996 to present. Photographs are taken from each end of the transect or plot center to document change. Data are collected using two different protocols. Numerous adjustments to the protocols have taken place over the years. Collected data include: tree inventory to obtain density and basal area (50x20m & variable radius plots), fuel loading using Brown's protocols; saplings, seedling & woody stem densities (fixed area plots), and understory plant percent cover and frequency using 30m & 50m point intercept transects and 1m frequency squares.
