Soundscapes of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks
Flickinger J, Job J, Bumgardner S. 2019. Soundscapes of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. National Park Service. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks
A story map highlighting sounds of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks recorded as part of the parks' Soundscape Project - a project supported by the NPS Night Skies and Natural Sounds Division. Sounds were recorded through 2017 and 2018 for the National Park Service by Jacob Job of the Colorado State University Sound and Light Ecology Team using a Sound Devices 722 device in conjunction with a Telinga Parabolic System or an Audio Technica AT4022s in binaural housing. Video was recorded by Steven Bumgardner of Midpines Media. These high quality recordings are a sample of the sounds that can be heard throughout the entire park and span the entire 14,000 ft elevation gradient of the park.
