This document is the National Historic Landmark (NHL) nomination for Greendale Historic District in the Village of Greendale, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. The NHL nomination for the Greendale Historic District documents its national significance under NHL Criteria 1 and 4 as one of three federally-sponsored planned "greenbelt" communities built during the Great Depression in response to unemployment and the need for working class housing reform.
