This document is updated National Historic Landmark (NHL) documentation for Maison Olivier (formerly known as Acadian House) National Historic Landmark in St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. The updated NHL nomination for Maison Oliver documents its national significance under NHL Criterion 4 as one of the few remaining extant raised creole cottages. Utilizing cypress truss work, locally-sourced clay bricks, collumbage (walls filled with clay, brick, bousillage, or similar material between trusses) and pegged cyprus beams. The period of national significance is 1815-1845.
