Essay on the importance and value of wilderness. Protecting biodiversity and maintaining functioning habitats of wildlife have vast ramifications in the Sky Islands area of southeastern Arizona. A "bioblitz" in 2016 helped to involve citizen scientists in surveying and cataloging species within the area, increasing recognition of the need for human stewardship of areas of natural places for recreation, education, research, inspiration.
