Preserving Unimpaired Earth’s Natural Environments: Resilient Landscapes Lesson

Cerpa C. Preserving Unimpaired Earth’s Natural Environments: Resilient Landscapes Lesson. National Park Service. National Capital Region

Science Lesson. Overview The theme for this week is preserving unimpaired Earth’s natural environments. As the climate changes, species geographic range changes, and species shift location. National Parks protect microclimates associated with a range of habitats, acting as safe havens for species. Sometimes, the range contracts and species die out, while other times the range expands and species become more dominant. At either extreme, the variety of habitats that are connected to each other allow for the migration, shifting of species.
