This dataset contains long-term monitoring data for springs for Carlsbad Caverns National Park (2017-2025). Monitoring of seeps, springs, and tinajas provides information on these small and rare systems in parks of the National Park Service’s Chihuahuan Desert Network and Sonoran Desert Network. These systems are the primary connection between groundwater and surface water and are important water sources for plants and animals. The networks monitor a suite of springs vital signs and parameters organized into four modules: site characterization, site condition, water quantity, and water quality. The data were collected annually at one or more “sentinel sites” per park (sites chosen based on judgement and other criteria).
