Two reports (Phase 1 and Phase 2) of research conducted on habitat and microhabitat of scorpions in the desert locations near Tucson, AZ. The American Southwest is the epicenter of U.S. scorpion diversity, and Arizona has the only species usually regarded as medically significant, the Arizona Bark Scorpion. Scorpions glow under a black light, so can be studied by observing them on the surface at night, using a relatively non-invasive technique. Phase 1 study was inventory and habitat use. Phase 2 was surface activity patterns study. Study sites included the Tucson Mountain District of Saguaro National Park.
