Fire effects monitoring data collected at Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee and North Carolina. The data were collected during spring/summer/fall field seasons by the fire effects monitoring crew out of Great Smoky Mountains National Park from 1997 - 2025. Data collected from 50 x 20 m forest plots include post burn char height and scorch measurements for overstory trees and severity ratings for substrate and vegetation, tree inventory to obtain density and basal area, fuel load using Brown's method for inventorying surface fuels and biomass, seedling density, as well as cover point method along 50 m transects for estimating shrub, tree seedling, and herbaceous plant cover. Data collected from grass transects are 30 meter point intercept data to obtain relative and percent cover. Additionally the data include 30m radius CBI (Composite Burn Index) and 20m x 20m Species Composition protocol measurements for permanent GRSM LFEM (Landscape Fire Effects Mapping) plots including areas of the 2016 CT2 WF
