A jurisdictional wetland delineation was conducted at Fort Sumter & Fort Moultrie National Historical Park (FOSU) and at Charles Pinckney National Historic Site (Charles Pinckney NHS or CHPI), in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. This work was performed to support and inform project planning and environmental compliance obligations for anticipated storm recovery projects funded by Disaster Supplemental 2023. Wetland survey covered approximately 57.2 acres across three separate survey sites. A total of seven distinct wetland resources were identified including five palustrine wetlands, one tidal marine wetland, and one artificial and historic riverine ditch. Assessment of wetland function and values identified causes of ecological degradation most associated with management of cultural landscapes, and limited opportunities for restoration of habitat function. Five of the seven resources were identified as Waters of the US subject to regulation under the Clean Water Act.
