News report of arrests with federal charges of poaching and trafficking in saguaro cacti and other native plants after a four-year undercover investigation by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It was the largest federal case to date involving a protected plant. The saguaro is protected under Arizona's native-plant law. The stolen cacti were sold to nurseries, development companies or collectors in Arizona and elsewhere, including foreign countries.
