This research explores how climate and hydrology shape the growth and intrinsic water use efficiency (iWUE) of three dominant tree species—Taxodium ascendens, Taxodium distichum, and Pinus elliottii—in South Florida’s Big Cypress National Preserve. Using dendrochronology and stable carbon isotope analysis, the study sampled 20–26 individuals per species to estimate annual growth rates and iWUE, constructing tree-ring chronologies and evaluating environmental influences across temporal and landscape scales.
