Abbott TM. 1982. Chemical and Bacteriological Evaluation: Water Quality Survey of the Obed Wild and Scenic River, Tennessee. Tennessee Technological University. Cookeville, TN
A study concerning the water quality of the Obed Wild and Scenic River, Tennessee. A description of the Obed watershed discusses: topography, geology, soils, hydrology, water quality, land use, point source discharges, and designated critical environmental areas. Sampling stations were established and the following measurements were collected: stream discharge, width, depth, substrate type, bacteriological samples, total concentration of compounds or elements, and suspended or dissolved solids. The results are discussed for each of the sampling stations and for the watershed as a whole. Tables and graphs are also used to present the data. There are photographs of each of the sampling stations. Maps show the locations of the sampling stations and sources of pollution in the watershed (coal mining, municipal areas, etc.).
