The information on vegetation assessment is intended to assist at the field level in surveying concrete stands of vegetation. The methods for vegetation classification and mapping are semi-quantitative and intended for fast, economical collection of vegetational data over large areas. The manual includes a new vegetation classification developed for the Colorado Plateau. The new SRFR classification is hierarchical and open-ended, and can also be applied to any other region of North America.
