Comparison of Macrobenthos Collected with Cores and Suction Sampler in Vegetated and Unvegetated Marine Habitats

Stoner AW, Greening HS, Ryan JD, Livingston RJ. 1983. Comparison of Macrobenthos Collected with Cores and Suction Sampler in Vegetated and Unvegetated Marine Habitats. Estuaries. 6(1):76-82

This is a methodologies paper comparing shallow water benthic macrofauna collected with hand-held cores with that collected via a suction-sampler. The results showed that the core-method provided the most reliable data for estimating macrofauna density and composition. The work was performed at sampling sites in Pensacola Bay. The report also provides an extensive listing of the macrobenthic animals collected from the bay.
