This report examines tree species composition, species diversity, and structure of seven old-growth forest stands in mountain coves of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Species variations are based on estimates of tree biomass, tree basal area and stem density. Spatial structure of stands is determined by patchiness, population structure, species diversity, and stand dynamics.
