Elfring C. 1990. Conflict in the Grand Canyon: How should Glen Canyon Dam be operated?. BioScience. 40(10):709-711
This article discusses the impacts on Grand Canyon National Park from Glen Canyon Dam located 30 miles upstream from the park. The running of the dam diminished the natural beaches and sandbars downstream in Grand Canyon National Park. Long-term ecosystem management programs need to be developed to manage the dam impacts on the Colorado River.
