Measured coral species diversity along 5 transects in Great Lameshur Bay, St. John using the chain method. Includes a table of results and a list of recommendations for reducing the impact researchers have on the coral they're studying. Students in an intensive one-month course in marine ecosystems under stress studied several potential sources of stress on the coral reefs and grass flats in Big and Little Lameshur Bays, St. John, United States Virgin Islands. A major goal of the course was not only to teach the students about stress effects in these ecosystems, but also to develop techniques for gathering information which would assist in the long-term protection of the marine and coastal resources in these bays.
