A model of chlorine accumulation in unstable landforms was applied to alluvial chronology and dating of surfaces in the Ajo Mountains area. Ten stages of geomorphic evolution since the end of tectonic activity in the late Tertiary are identified and described. Possible vegetative cover is inferred from soil carbonate data. Several dating techniques are contrasted, with the conclusion that more accurate dates can be obtained by using more than one method.
