This report discusses the widespread invasion of the cowbird into the habitat of native bird populations in the National Parks. Species affected by the cowbird are reduced in numbers due to the parasitism of the cowbirds, which replace native eggs with their own. The least Bell's vireo is a native to the Sierra foothills and is in decline due to loss of habitat and cowbird brood parasitism. A checklist of species affected by cowbird brood parasitism is included. Recommendations and ideas for interpretive presentations are presented.
