Author discusses how the interface between fresh and salt water is governed by a hydrostatic equilibrium. The author shows how this equilibrium is responsible for the stable salt-water front in the Biscayne aquifer along the coast of Florida, including Biscayne Bay, Biscayne National Park. He included sections on characteristics of the geology and hydrology of the aquifer, seaward flow of salt water based on available ground water, dispersion and diffusion of salt water in the aquifer, chloride content of aquifer depending on the water level, and tables/graphs of equipotential fresh and salt water lines through the aquifer.
