Cytography of Claytonia virginica -- and its Allies

Over 1000 individuals of the species were studied to determine chromosome numbers. Evidence shows that the species evolved from a base of n = 6 through hyperaneuploidy, then hypoaneuploidy, such as n - 11 and 15. Infraspecific phylogeny is compared with two allied species.
