In an experiment at Little Lost Man Creek, Redwood National Park, the authors injected chloride (as a tracer) with nitrate for 10 days to determine how much of the nitrogen is washed through and how much stored or used by organisms. This volume contains the experimental data which form the basis for a number of reports by these authors. Conclusions particularly concern exchange flows between surface and subsurface water in gravel-bed streams. Data are illustrated in graphs, a schematic diagram, synoptic plots, and 3 appendices: normalized plots of the chemical tracers and tables of analytical measurements (solute concentrations). The three tables include water quality data for Little Lost Man Creek and stream water percentages found in wells at 2 intervals.
