This report is on the competition and land utilization by feral burros (Equus asinus) and mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) at Bandelier National Monument, NM. Juniper, pinon-juniper, and ponderosa pine habitats were studied. Comparisons of vegetation in clip plots in and outside of exclosures was performed. Fecal pellets were collected and analyzed for foraging patterns by each ungulate, and species composition is listed.
