This report gives the results of a study of the effect of five (20' x20') deer exclosures on the impact of a large deer population on the Park vegetation in 1987-1988 at Morristown National Historical Park, Morristown, NJ . A gross impact of herbivory can be made by observing if the vegetation inside the enclosures changes over time differently from the vegetation found in similiar areas that are accessible to the deer. The five exclosures were located in each of five different vegetation types. Graphs, data sheets, and statistical results are in cluded in the report. The exclosures did not show any apparent effect of excluding deer for 3-4 years. It is suggested that more exclosure plots are need for a valid comparison of treatment effect and that they should be studied over a longer time period, .
