Mcmurtray JD and Irwin JE. 1982. 1982 Sea Turtle Project : Final Report , Canaveral National Seashore. CPSU Technical Report - 4
The purpose of this study was to continue tagging nesting female sea turtles , continue monitoring nests for estimation of the nesting sea turtle population within the seashore and conduct a predation study to determine if nest success could be enhanced by screening nests to exclude raccoons (Procyon lotor). In 1982, 526 nests were deposited by loggerhead (Carretta carretta), green (Chelonia mydas) and hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) turtles along five miles of Canaveral's beaches in the North district . Three hundred twenty-one turtles were tagged and 80 nests were screened. Methods of tagging, screening and data collection are discussed.
