This report provides the results of an aerial survey of moose in 1987 and contrasts them with those from a previous survey. A total of 266 moose were seen for an observed density of 1.2 moose/mi2. Applying a correction factor led to a population estimate of 319 with a density of 1.5 moose/mi2. The observed age and sex composition was 23 calves, 3 yearling bulls, and 34 adult bulls per 100 cows. The 1987 population density was lower than that obtained from a 1976 survey; the 1987 survey found 33% fewer moose.
