Desert Bighorn Sheep of the River Mountains, Nevada

Herd movement, homes ranges, and spatial requirements of desert bighorn sheep in the River Mountains, Nevada were studied. Eighty-two sheep were marked durng 3 summers and provided data relative to seasonal changes in range utilization and home ranges. Average population size betweem 1972 and 1976 was 256 sheep. The most noticable increase occurred when water was made available at Southern Nevada Water Project.
