A study concerned with the mapping of plant communities in the Gulf Islands National Seashore (GUIS), Florida and Mississippi using Geographic Information System technology. Methods involved establishing and analyzing vegetation plots and transects. The results of the vegetation study were compared to and combined with previous vegetation studies conducted in GUIS. The plant community types are described and discussed. There are maps showing the locations of vegetation plots and transects. The appendicies show the following information: a summary of indicator species, plant communities, descriptions of study plots, photographic log, a comparison of plant community studies, and PERSUM plot summaries.
