The author [and others] have documented movement of large amounts of sediment through the Redwood Creek system (Redwood National Park, California) in recent years. The analyses reported here concern bed elevations as they 'quantify changes in bed roughness and bed pattern over time.' Following a large sediment input, the streambed gradually developed more regular patterns, with pools deeper and closer together, more prominent riffles, and development of small scale bed forms. The study included spatial autocorrelation of patterns based on examination at a scale of 10 meters. Differences occur between reaches that are aggrading and those that are degrading.
