Diets of five species of desert owls

This study focuses on the diets of five species of desert owls in the Colorado and Mojave deserts of California: common barn-owls (Tyto alba), great horned owls (Bubo virginianus), long-eared owls (Asio otus), western screech-owls (Otus kennicottii), and burrowing owls (Athene cunicularia). Diets were determined from the contents of regurgitated pellets found below the owls' diurnal roosts or burrow entrances. Pellets were collected from areas in Anza-Borrego State Park, the Coachella Valley Preserve, Joshua Tree National Monument, and other areas.
