Medeiros AC, Loope LL, Anderson SJ. 1993. Differential colonization by epiphytes on native (Cibotium spp) and alien (Cyathea cooperi) tree ferns in a Hawaiian rain forest. Selbyana. 14:71-74

Study conducted in Kipahulu Valley, Haleakala NP. Study found the native Cibotium glaucum and C. menziesii tree ferns supported more individual epiphytes than the alien Sphaeropteris cooperi tree ferns. But S. cooperi tree ferns supported more individuals of alien epiphyte species.
