1986 Lake Powell Survey

Ferrari RL. 1988. 1986 Lake Powell Survey. REC-ERC-88-6. United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation

The 1986 Lake Powell sediment survey documented the present storage-elevation relationship and loss of storage from sediment accumulation since the reservoir began filling in 1963. The reservoir capacity was computed based on surface areas determined by a range-line survey method, and the range-lines at 409 locations will be used for future monitoring of sediment build-up. As of September 1986, sediment accumulation has resulted in 3.2 percent loss in reservoir storage. Six tables, 67 figures (maps, black-and-white photos, charts), brief bibliography
