Distribution and abundance of the forest birds of Guam: results of a 1981 survey

Engbring J and Ramsey FL. 1984. Distribution and abundance of the forest birds of Guam: results of a 1981 survey. FWS/OBS-84/20. United States Fish And Wildlife Service. Honolulu, HI

The birds of Guam are among the least known of America's avifauna. Ten to twenty years ago a dramatic decline of native land birds was noted. In response to this precipitous decline, the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the GAWRD conducted a survey of the forest birds of Guam in June 1981. A total of 435 8-min counts were made at the 214 stations, and 5,399 individuals of 23 species were recorded. The majority of birds recorded (70%) were native forest birds.
