The organic layers and three one-and-one-half layers of soil were collected at four different locations in GRSM for gamma-ray analysis for cesium-137, a product of nuclear fallout. The finding was that most of the cesium was in the organic layer and the top layer of soil, and varied from 246.2 to 380 millicuries per square mile. Other fission-produced gamma-emitters were ruthenium-106 and cerium-144.
