Page GW, Bidstrup FC, Ramer RJ, Stenzel LE. 1986. Distribution of wintering snowy plovers in California and adjacent states. Western Birds. 17(4):145-170
A report on wintering snowy plover populations in California written by Point Reyes Bird Observatory. Excerpts: "We use the results of statewide censuses in California and Oregon between 1979 and 1986, along with published and unpublished records, to describe the abundance and distribution of wintering Snowy Plovers in California and other western states. In addition we estimate the size of the post-breeding population in western North America and attempt to reconcile that estimate with the results of the winter surveys and reported sightings." Results include distribution information on 15 coastal counties in California (Del Norte to San Diego County) and information about snowy plovers in San Francisco Bay, the Channel Islands, and the interior of California.
