Distributional notes on some Virginia reptiles

One of the three reptiles described in these notes on distribution in Virginia is a smooth green snake found at Iron Mine Hollow on the Blue Ridge Parkway, in Botetourt County. The scientific name is given as Opheodrys v. vernalis, and this observation is the southernmost in the Blue Ridge. An additional specimen came from Big Meadows, Shenandoah National Park. The snake has now been found in 6 Blue Ridge counties.
